Siegrist
Walter Siegrist started manufacturing pinions and gears for the watch industry in 1912. Together with his brother-in-law Arnold Flury, he founded Siegrist & Cie in 1916. Although originally only supplying the Swiss watch industry, production was soon expanded by exports to various European countries, the USA and South America. From 1930 onwards, the company started manufacturing pinions, gearwheels, gearboxes and microgears for apparatus construction, as well as dial gauges. The production of watch parts was continually reduced, and was finally abandoned. The world-famous TESSINA camera was produced from the Sixties. It was the smallest 35 mm camera to be produced and sold anywhere in the world, and production continued until 1990. An extension to the existing factory doubled the production area in 1995, thereby creating the precondition for the further expansion of W. Siegrist AG.
In 2005, the descendants of the founder sold their shares as part of a management buy-in, and thereby secured the continued existence of the company.
In May 2013 the company moved to its new production building at Lebernstrasse 55 in Grenchen. Here, W. Siegrist AG – with its competent, innovative and affable members of staff – can produce your products with the best technical equipment and under the best organisational conditions.
As part of its continuing further development, W. Siegrist AG took another important step in December 2016 by obtaining ISO 13485 certification. In addition to meeting the growing demands of customers, this is an important requirement for safeguarding the company’s future success. Microtechnology is our passion.
