François Léon Prieur-Bardin
(1870 – 1939)
Hayatı
The painter Prieur-Bardin was a French-born artist who went to Constantinople in the early 1890s, remaining there until 1901, although he originally only planned to stay a short while.
His output was relatively small, mostly produced between the early 1890s and 1905, when he lived in Constantinople, in Turkey. He regularly exhibited views of Constantinople and Turkey in the first galleries of Constantinople, in the Péra-Galata district.
Ports and coastal towns were a favourite subject of his. In Marseille, Venice and above all Constantinople, the play of light on the architecture provided him with opportunities to explore a palette of highly refined white and ochre tones.
